Excel Tip - Freezing column and/or row headings

When working with a large spreadsheet, wouldn't it be nice if you could keep column and/or row headings visible when scrolling beyond the initial screen of the spreadsheet? The solution to this problem is to use a feature in Excel called "freeze panes." In the sample spreadsheet below assume you would like the student names and grade assignments to remain visible as you scroll. Position the cell pointer in cell B3 and from the Window menu, choose Freeze Panes. Anything above and to the left of the selected cell will remain stationary as you scroll.
