Residence Hall Network

Being connected to any network may involve security risks including viruses.  Ouachita is not responsible for damages resulting from connection to the network.  We recommend taking appropriate measures such as using antivirus software and regular computer backups

All Residence Halls have network access in the rooms.

For detailed online instructions on setting up a computer in the residence hall see the Residence Hall Networking Brochure (pdf format.)

Network Setup

  • The hardware you need for your PC is an Ethernet Card with an RJ45 plug and a CAT5 network patch cable with RJ45 ends.

  • A computer vendor or qualified personnel should install the Ethernet card with TCP/IP (Automatic IP Address/DHCP). No Microsoft or Novell client software is required

  • You can access your e-mail via the web at http://tigermail.obu.edu/ (you may also use Outlook Express or other mail program, see below).
