E-mail

Mailbox full or mailbox closed

Each person on campus has 30 mb of space allocated for e-mail. In Outlook, not only e-mail, but calendar items, notes, tasks, deleted items and sent items contribute to this 30 mb. It is a good idea to set Outlook to empty deleted items when exiting the program. To do this, go to the Tools menu and choose Options. Click on the tab called "Other." Click in the checkbox that says Empty the Deleted Items folder upon exiting.

By default, all messages you send are saved in the Sent Items folder. To turn off this option, go to the Tools menu, choose Options. Click on the E-mail Options button and uncheck the box next to Save copies of messages in Sent Items Folder. To save a copy of an individual message while in the new message window, click on the button  and select Save sent messages to and select the folder in which to save the copy.

Note:
Attachments you receive with e-mail also contribute to the size of your mailbox.  If you need to keep sizeable attachments, save the attachment separately from the e-mail message, then delete the message or remove the attachments.

To save an attachment:

1.  Open the item that contains the file attachment you want to save.

2.  Right-click the icon for the attachment, and then click Save As.
Select a location for saving the file, rename the file if desired then click Save.

Note:  If the item includes more than one attachment, choose Save Attachments from the File menu to save all attachments.

To delete multiple items:

Press ctrl+a to select all items, then press the delete key on the keyboard
OR
Hold the ctrl key and click individual items to select, then delete
OR
Click the first item in a list, hold down the shift key and click the last item in a list, then delete.

Internet

When I print a web page the text on the right side of the page is cut off.

In Internet Explorer, go to the File menu and choose Page Setup.  Decrease the margins for left and right (try .25) and try printing again.

BlueZone

When I open BlueZone, I can't type.

Click the blinking cursor and begin typing.

My keyboard locks up in BlueZone

Press the ctrl key in the lower left hand corner of the keyboard, then the tab key to move to an input field

Network

I'm out of free disk space for saving to the network

Faculty and staff are allocated 15MB network storage space.  Try deleting files no longer needed.

Printing

The printer connected to my computer won't print.

  • Try restarting your computer

  • Check the cables connecting the printer to the computer to verify they are plugged in securely.

  • Check to see that the printer is online and has paper.

The printer I print to in another office or another room won't print.

  • If a print box is present (this will be a small box sitting beside the computer or directly connected to the back of the printer) unplug the power to the print box, plug it back in and try printing again.
  • If a computer is connected to the printer you are printing to, restart that computer.
