Wireless Networking Setup
Setting up a computer with
Windows XP to use wireless networking is a fairly simple
process. To make the process smoother, make sure you
have an 802.11b/g compatible network card
and the CD that
includes the drivers and documentation for your particular
model of card. The following example assumes you have
already installed Windows XP Service Pack 2. If you
have not done this yet, please visit our
download site.
1. Install the wireless
network card according to the directions provided by your
manufacturer.
2. Install the drivers
from the installation CD provided with your wireless network
card.
3. After the drivers have
finished installing, right click on the wireless network
icon (i.e.:
) that
appears in the lower right of your Windows XP taskbar and
click "View Available Wireless Networks" as shown below:
4. The following Window will appear:

5. "ouachita" should
already be highlighted as the image shows above. If
not, select it and then click on the Connect button below.
6. In a short second
another window will appear:

7. The connection will be
established and the previous window will reappear showing
that you are connected.
8. Open Internet Explorer
to browse the Internet. If you have not already done
so, you may be asked to download "Cisco's Clean Access
Agent", formerly known as "SmartEnforcer". Please
follow the prompts for installing Cisco's Clean Access
Agent.
